New comedy screenplay is done

Well, that took long enough. Pretty much a year-and-a-half in the works and it’s finally done: our new comedy screenplay. This was the most difficult thing we’ve ever attempted to write and we’re really pleased with how it turned out. What we have is a very character-driven coming-of-age R-rated comedy. That’s all we can say at the moment.

We really put a lot of work into this story and the characterizations and it’s extremely polished.

Lots of character work in the new script. It’s a different kind of writing experience for us as we’re trying to weave maximum character and plot depth into the new story. This latest screenplay is a slow cooked meal in a crock pot full of chicken with a methamphetamine sauce. It’s gonna be funny. Right now we’re writing set-pieces, having some fun.

Target for completion is late August I’m guessing.

The comedy script is progressing nicely. Since I last posted we went back and forth on a number of ideas (we have a lot of things in the works so it’s hard to pick what’s “the best”)–weighing our options and deciding what to go full bore on. We finally settled on our original idea with renewed interest after making a number of crucial plot changes. So now, with the synopsis specked out, we’re rockin’. Hoping to have this new script out mid-Spring. We already have a title, but won’t announce that or the storyline until it’s almost ready. I know you’re wetting your pants in anticipation!

Fancy New Stuff

New stuff is happening. We haven’t posted in a while. We’ve been drinking heavily. No, see, the blogging duties– they are elusive. That’s what it is. Whatever it is, we’re sorry. Yeah.

We do have our 5th screenplay very fleshed out. The story is solid. That’s how we work. We’ve brainstormed the hell out of the story. That we have. And now, we are in rough first draft mode at the moment. For now all we can say now is this one’s a comedy. Kazow! Stay tuned!

Come watch a scene from THE FIELD AGENT in Pasadena on July 25th

Do you need something to do on Saturday, July 25th?

Well sneak some snacks in and come on down to the Academy 6 Theaters in Pasadena. A scene from THE FIELD AGENT will be showing along with three short films as part of the Action on Film International Film Festival.

Details: Our scene will play in the 8:00pm block in the Academy 2 theater.

What they do is very cool for writers. They hire some legit actors, rig up some dramatic lighting and read a segment of your script and treat it like a short film. It will be in rotation with:

INTERPRETATION – up for Best
Cinematography Short, Male Action Performer of the Year, Best Fight
Choreography – Short, Best Director-Short

THE LAST ONE – up for Best Foreign Film (short)

Sean and I will be there yelling obscenities from the back row and throwing sodas at the screen. So come hang out!!

The Field Agent wins some awards

THE FIELD AGENT has been nominated for some awards!

I’d say crack open the bubbly, but hell, we do that every night here at Hollywood Goldmine where shooting beer cans off the porch rail with a .45 is as natural as spitting chew on the floor. So jump up and down instead.

We’re one of five scripts up for Best Script and a Hollywood Scriptwriter Magazine Written Word Award at the Action on Film International Film Festival (a.k.a. the AOF) so we’re pretty excited about that. Sean and I will be attending the event in Pasadena (takes place July 24-31) so if you’re there come up and say hi.

Also, a couple weeks ago we got third place at The Indie Gathering.

You never know who you’re going to meet at these events, plus they’re always a ton of fun– so we’re excited to be part of these festivals. Thanks for liking our work!
